Freedom in it's true sense is a double edge sword. Having attempted multiple times to start a business it became clear that it was not going to be an easy task and there we're plenty of tools to pick from. However pursuing freedom is not an easy path but there were certainly tools I had used and lessons learnt that made the journey easier.

After many years and interactions I boiled down the essential digital tools that could assist in helping a business attain and sustain freedom

Cost of Freedom

Freedom gives one the power and the right to make choices without hinderance, whether good or bad. One must always be aware that freedom does not mean happiness, freedom does not mean security. Actually I would argue that freedom leaves you exposed to the elements, in the context of business this is the market and users needs. Freedom does not mean you don't have to listen to other but rather to listen and respond within your capacity and thoughts. One thing you must be clear is that freedom has a cost that needs to be nutured and mantained.

Planting your Business

Business is a frickle thing that can be formed or fade in minute, or stand the test of time for centuries. Business needs care and nuturing and listening to the environment. I often like to compare business to a seed, in which everything begins from picking not only the seed but picking the right seed that will thrive in the environment, while having the patience to allow it grow. Some seeds will grow as fast as the seasons some will take years before they bear fruit.

The market I liken to the environment, and if you've chosen the right tree for the climate and weather for the tree to thrive the less support you'll need to maintain your business.

The Wheels of Freedom

Why business can give you freedom? A job is something that requires constant input for you to get an output. while a true striving business the individual can let go of the reigns and with minimal effort allow it thrive, this is the difference between driving a donkey cart and a car. While you can just get on the donkey and go, the car needs more thought and preparation and this allows you to go futher with lower effort if you've set things up properly. And just like a tree if you've set up in the right environment your business will require very little effort from you.

In going through my journey I began to develop a business philopsophy in discovering the path to Freedom and where business does fit in to those pursuing freedom.

The main strength of a small business is it's ability to move and adpapt fast in to be better in tune with customers. That is something that should always be used to you advantage, while big companies are armys , small business are special ops teams. It is a requirement to be extremely intentional with each action and hyper focus on completing missions set out. A small business requires building trust and loyalty, treating both the team and the customers as family not just another pay check. Shifting to this approach makes you more than just a business but a pillar in your community whether physical or digital.
